So You Lost Weight: Now What

I've lost 2kg's! - Healthy LifestyleIf you’ve recently completed a weight loss journey, congratulations! Losing weight is not only physically taxing but it can be an emotional rollercoaster as well–with week after week of getting on the scale only to find that all of that hard work has only allowed you to lose a pound or two, it’s enough to cause anybody to want to throw in the towel. However, if you pushed through the hard times and now have the results that you’ve always wanted, you still might not look the best that you can. Here are 5 procedures that will help you embrace your physical appearance one step further.

Botox and Juvederm

Because weight loss causes skin sagging and loosening, your cheeks might be a little more hollow and those crows-feet around your eyes may be a little more poignant. And, unfortunately, unlike the rest of your body, a few more sit-ups or one more green smoothie aren’t going to give your face the tightening it needs. That’s where fillers like Botox and Juvederm come into play. These non-permanent fillers are ideal to fill in wrinkles and plump your lips and cheeks up so that you look younger and more full of life than ever before.

Freeze Facial

Yes this may sound like something that Mr. Freeze from Batman would perform on your skin, however a freeze facial will help to give your skin the glowing and youthful results that you desire in just an hour. With both a combination of radio-frequency and heat, freeze facials rebuild collagen and promote new cell growth— which will both help to increase the elasticity in your skin which commonly dissipates after extreme weight loss.

HydraFacial

If you’ve noticed that your skin is more dry after weight loss or that the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles are much more poignant, you might want to consider getting a hydrafacial. Hydrafacials use LED lights to help stimulate skin firmness and resilience, while also combating the signs of aging.

Losing weight is a major accomplishment that’s worth waving your hands in the air like you just don’t care. However, if you have noticed some negative effects of weight loss on your skin, try getting one of the above procedures done.

4 Ways to Stay Motivated in the Summer

More stock images - 078Taking care of your body isn’t something that happens overnight and is something that takes consistent work and effort. By making healthy choices, you can stay motivated and on-track all summer long with these 4 tips.

  1. Eat Fresh Fruit

With fruits such as watermelon and blueberries being in season, summer is the best time to swap that ice cream for a bowl of fresh fruit. Even if your friends and family decide to go for the less healthy alternative, take a step back and ask yourself “Will I regret this later?” If the answer is “yes,” then go for that bowl of delicious and nutritious fruit.

  1. Try Something New

It’s easy to get caught in the same routine of going to the gym everyday at the same time. However, with the heat of summer, it’s the perfect time to take your workout outdoors and try something new. For example, if you live by the ocean, try taking a surfing lesson. Surfing is great for your arms, legs, and core— it’s the perfect total-body workout.

Do you live near the mountains? Try going on a hike that you’ve never been on. If the hike is longer than you think you can go, make it a goal to make it to the top of the mountain by the end of summer. That way you have something to work towards all summer long.

  1. Transport Yourself

Even if the sun is scorching hot, put away your car and get into the habit of walking or biking places. For example, if you’re meeting friends for dinner at a restaurant that’s a few miles away, leave an hour early and walk to the restaurant. If you’re too tired to walk back, ask one of your friends for a lift home. The added calories that you’ll burn by walking could help you lose an extra little weight.

  1. Activities

Although summer is notorious for releasing blockbuster hits, try to mix-up your summer activities and do something outside. For example, instead of going to a movie on a Friday night, grab a Frisbee and head to the park to play with your friends. Not only will your body thank you, but the social interaction will leave you feeling happier than before.
